FigureShift
FigureShift is a desktop app for getting a typewriter collection into the Typewriter Database without the busywork. Point it at your photos and it resizes them, fills in what it can from your file and folder names, and lets you work through a big backlog a few machines at a time — picking up where you left off.
You’ll need a free Typewriter Database account to upload.

Builds for macOS (Apple Silicon or Intel) and Windows live on the GitHub releases page.
- Download the build for your operating system from the releases page above.
- Open the downloaded file and follow your system’s install prompt.
- It isn’t code-signed yet, so your system blocks it on first launch:
- macOS — try to open it once, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. (Right-click → Open no longer works.)
- Windows — if SmartScreen warns, click More info → Run anyway.
- Launch FigureShift and sign in with your Typewriter Database account.
For the nerds, like me
FigureShift is open source, built on twdb-client — a Node.js library for the Typewriter Database.
