These look better than they are. I've always been curious. Finally got one for a good deal because its carriage always shot to the end.

Of course you worry about the escapement but actually it was the power spacer sticking on. I fixed it by bending the button up a bit and that let it deactivate and function correctly.

The ribbon drive also didn't work. I took it completely apart and deburred and cleaned it. After incorrectly assembling several times that now works as well.

It also came without its proprietary spools. Turns out I had one in a machine that didn't need them. I found a 3D print online, I tried printing two and one of them was successful enough to work. That's about how the whole machine feels. But hey! It's working!
